Kevin Walsh: General Manager
Kevin Walsh has been in the car business for over 14 years in the Denver Metro area. He moved to Colorado from Connecticut following an intense passion to be closer to the Broncos. Currently he's working on a 115 consecutive home game streak that he started back in 1998. He lives with his wife and two dogs in Denver. He chooses to work at Hyundai because Hyundai has a vehicle for every member of the family. We asked him why he works at Planet and he told us: I choose to work at Planet because they are a family operated dealership that cares about everyone's family including yours. Rose dropped into Planet Automotive's lap in 2000. Having a father who owned his own dealership, Rose developed a magnetic relationship with car sales at a young age. In a period of repel Rose pursued law school. Bright enough to succeed at law, Rose recognized her intense desire to spend her life helping people rather than fighting them in a court of law. Once she became a sales manager for a pharmaceutical sales company, her love of sales grew. One day (to our delight), Rose happened upon our store and knew this is where she wanted to be next - she applied two days later.
Rose is hard-working and has an intense love for her children. She likens herself to a Hyundai Sonata turbo because it is both beautiful and sporty.
Openly proclaiming she's a horrible driver in the snow, Rose knows the value of a great SUV and often finds herself helping customers who want safety and security. She sees vehicles as a useful tool and wants to help every customer find the right one for their lifestyle. Anyone who works with Rose knows that she approaches clients as she approaches her own life: treating others the way she wants to be treated.
For 15 years Dean has made Planet Automotive a better place. He's a regular guy with a full time schedule not only here at Planet, but also at home and in the community. He is the "token Dad" at many school volunteer events spending time coaching, scoring, and fundraising. Dedicated to reading and education, Dean is one of the few committed to volunteer time at children's book fairs.
As a sales guy, Dean is a people person. He is a good listener and utilizes questions rather than statements like "I'll tell you what you need to buy." He is very knowledgeable about car specifics and recognizes knowledge is useful when paired with the right questions. Approaching each client like an interview he aims to help fit the family with the right vehicle.
Currently in an 180,000 mile car, Dean is most excited about helping customers recognize the essential beliefs that come along with purchasing a car. According to Dean, cars speak more than transportation they're about economy, environment, and experience. Take one or take all, but find the one that matches your lifestyle.
Alex has been selling cars for 5 years now. Prior to this industry, Alex maintained a professional kickboxing career and earned degrees in psychology and business. Alex has a unique set of skills that are hard for us to top: for example, he knows five languages (Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, German, and English.)
Alex is passionate about cars. He believes there is nothing greater than the speed and comfort that comes from the feeling of being behind the wheel. This is exactly why Alex likes to help his customers find a car that is suited to give each of them more. To Alex cars shorten the distance between how and where you live every day and where you want to go in the pursuit of your passions. Alex understands that cars are useful tools that open opportunity to travel, explore, and enjoy life to the fullest.
Although Alex divides his time between his Jaguar and Infinity G37x, he likens himself to a Bugatti - in limited production and unique.
When Alex is not traveling his favorite spots in central Europe or in the Middle East, he's on the slopes of Colorado participating in snow sports. His favorite inspiration comes from Alexander the Great: "Be not proud when victorious. Do not give up undefeated." Maybe it's Alex's drive for victory that encouraged him to jump out of a three story window into a pool in Turkey.
Arline came to Planet Automotive as a surprise: she has a unique background in product and business development for a medical manufacturer. After finding new homes in several states, Arline settled in Colorado and decided to stay.
Arline is an avid mystery reader. When she is not at home with the family showing them who is the best at Texas Hold 'em (or Omaha), she is volunteering her time with Big Sisters and local soup kitchens.
Arline openly admits she's a car freak. Although she's had her share of high ticket cars in the past, right now she loves driving "Dimples": her hail-kissed 2008 Elantra. As an asset to our sales staff, Arline is the kind of advisor with natural intuition. She enjoys helping customers who may not know what they want. After speaking with a customer for the first time, she knows what car is the perfect fit. Inspired by JFK in her younger days, she's lived her life knowing, "Life is short, make the most of it."
Buzz came to us with an impressive work history. In his early career, Buzz worked from window washer and moved his way up to being a 10 store supervisor of the McDonald chain. After dedicating 20 years to the industry Buzz followed a recruiter's advice and left it all to start a new career in car sales. He's been from the bottom to the top and knows exactly where he wants to be today - with us. Thankfully for us, Buzz has been a sales manager since 1996.
Buzz is the kind of guy you don't easily forget. After all, he's the one in the dealership that wants a spotlight - like the bat light - above our store (he must think the logo is really cool). He likens himself to the car that is both fast and funny, like a drive-by comedian.
To Buzz, cars are supposed to be new and different. He's the go-to guy for a lease because he knows cars not only get you from place to place dry, they may as well be fun to drive and not smell like old socks. Lease one he'll say, or buy one it's your choice, but whatever you do make sure it's what you want.
Julia Gutierrez joined the Planet Hyundai family in the winter of 2012. After a 23 year career in retail and restaurants, she decided to join the car business and be like her dad who owned a dealership when she was a child.
Julia enjoys that each make and model is unique. She thinks it is fun that not only can a car be transportation for your daily needs, but it can also be a little bit of a self-esteem booster. She told us: “When you drive a nice, reliable car, a lot of people feel better about themselves and are able to do more and be better in all that they do.”
Julia’s favorite car is the Santa Fe. She loves it and sees it reflect who she feels she is “sleek and reliable.”
When Julia is not working, you’ll find her volunteering at her children’s schools or just hanging out spending time with her family that she feels is just “growing up very quickly.”
