How to Program Hyundai HomeLink

Hyundai Bluetooth

HomeLink makes your Denver errands easier. You can link the buttons on your Hyundai mirror to your garage door — creating a streamlined driving experience from the Lakewood streets, all the way to your doorstep.

Your new Hyundai Elantra or Santa Fe comes pre-programmed with HomeLink® wireless technology. What is Hyundai HomeLink®, and how do you program the system to fit your needs? Take advantage of this popular Hyundai convenience feature with this HomeLink® programming how-to guide from Planet Hyundai!

How to Program the Hyundai HomeLink® Garage Door Opener

Before programming HomeLink®, move any items out of the path of your garage door, and have your garage door remote ready. Next, find your Hyundai vehicle’s garage door buttons. They should be on the rearview mirror, but you can check your owner’s manual if you have trouble locating them. Now you can take the following steps and program HomeLink®:

  1. Park your vehicle in your driveway and close the garage door.
  2. Press and hold the two outside buttons on the Homelink® system until the LED starts to blink.
  3. Inside your Hyundai vehicle, press and hold the garage door button on your garage door remote control, while simultaneously pressing and holding the HomeLink® garage door button on your Hyundai rear view mirror.
  4. Continue to press and hold until the red light on your rearview mirror turns solid, or flashes very quickly. A slow flash indicates that the system is still programming.
  5. Press the button on your Hyundai’s rear view mirror. If your garage door opens, programming is complete. If it doesn’t, repeat steps 1 through 4. If it doesn’t work a second time, continue through the rest of this guide — or contact our Hyundai service center for help!

How to Program Hyundai Hyundai HomeLink® With a Rolling Code System

If programming is unsuccessful after several attempts, a rolling code system might be the reason. If your garage door uses a rolling code system, the vehicle needs to be running to program the HomeLink® transceiver. Follow these steps to program a rolling code compatible HomeLink® system:

  • Locate the “learn code” button on your garage door opener. Depending on your model, you’ll find it under the light cover or on the rear panel.
  • Press and hold the “learn code” button until a red LED begins to blink. You now have 30 seconds to complete the programming.
  • While the LED on the garage door opener is blinking, return to your vehicle and press the pre-programmed Homelink® button 4 times, or as many times as it takes for the garage door to respond.
