Summer Maintenance Checklist for Hyundai Vehicles
While many of us love the summer heat, it can be extremely hard on our vehicles. Before heading out on that summer road trip, make sure your vehicle is ready to hit the road. There’s nothing worse than spoiled vacation due to a breakdown. Avoid the frustration by checking out our summer maintenance checklist and by staying on track with your Hyundai maintenance schedule.
Change your oil
Your engine needs clean and lubricating oil to function properly, especially in the high temperatures of the summer heat. When engine oil is old and dirty it becomes sludgy and non-lubricating. Your engine doesn’t function properly with dirty oil and runs the risk of overheating and causing you many bigger problems. Get your oil changed before a long trip! While you’re at it, check your air filter. If it’s dirty, get it swapped out for a new one. A clean air filter may improve your MPG by up to ten percent.
Check your battery, hoses, and belts
The summer heat can be hard on your battery. The higher temperatures can lead to an increase in corrosion of your battery. Have your battery checked to see how well it is holding a charge. Have your hoses and belts checked, as well. With fluctuations in temperatures, the rubber material can melt, warp, or crack. Damaged hoses or belts can lead to engine overheating.
Check your air conditioner
There’s nothing worse than a long and sweaty trip. This is easily preventable by testing out your air conditioner before you leave on that summer road trip. If it isn’t blowing freezing cold air, get it fixed! You’ll thank yourself later!
